In Japan, the academic educational system is guided by the most experienced teachers. They are assigned to teach the youngest children. The reason for this is that children at a young age are "open-minded" and have the best potential ability to observe, listen and learn academic education and life skills. The main role of the teacher is to guide the children, so they become self- teaching, self-thinking, and with self-discipline. This method of teaching has been used for over 3000 years from traditional martial arts.

The head instructors of Shaolin-Tzu Martial Arts Academy offer over 40 years of combined experience of study and teaching of many facets of traditional martial arts.

Many of the children who start in our program have grown up to be young adults who continue their training in the adult classes.

  • The program provides a dynamic learning environment, so your child can achieve maximum results.

  • Our program creates self-confidence in your child, to improve relationships and build an "I can" attitude.

  • Your child will develop the discipline necessary to improve at home and school. We teach practical self-defence skills, to keep your child safe.

  • Class size is kept small to provide more personal attention to individuals as children learn in different ways.

  • During class time the children will be divided into smaller group with assistant instructors to go over new training details or review. In some cases "one on one" instructions are provided.

  • A report card will be provided to the children and parents to show progress and indicates areas for improvement.

HOW to ENROLL your child in our program:

  • Determine if your child is interested in the martial arts.

  • Phone for an appointment.

  • Observe a class.

  • Briefing interview with the head instructor if there is interest to enroll in the program. This will help establish personal goals and areas of focus.

  • Participate in a free class.

  • Fill out a membership application (requiring guardian signature if under 18 years of age)

  • Purchase a karate uniform. (The instructor will provide you with information regarding where to purchase a uniform for the lowest cost and proper fit)

  • For children 6-12 years old, it is recommended that parents be present as an observer for the first class. Parents are allowed to be present for a few minutes at the beginning and end of each class. It is too often a distraction to the children’s lessons if too many parents are observing throughout an entire class. If parent wish to observe a class at a given time, please make an appointment prior to the class starting time.

  • Read the Student Manual. A student manual is available to each new student. The manual contains information that is essential in the martial arts learning process. The information in the student manual will be covered in part by the instructor during class time.
